Living Room: 7 Month Before & After

We have a few final finishing touches to truly finish the living room. But as of this past weekend all of the piles are gone and (expect for the 6 canvas prints) all of the decorating is done (until our next trip...)
It feels so good to have this all together. It's exactly how we wanted it to be :) See pictures below for the living room progress March - October!

D Makes a Bookshelf

We have a decent amount of books (lots of travel books!) and really wanted to make a bookshelf. D made a shelf in our studio and it added just the right amount of cozy (if that makes any sense)
So we made a trip back to our old neighborhood in Chelsea and grabbed a bunch of supplies that we needed to continue to finish up the apartment. We also shop at our local hardware stores but unfortunately they don't have a huge selection.
The bookshelf looks great and it's nice to have a place to keep books so we can not clutter other areas :)

Creating a Psuedo Foyer Area

We live in an apartment, so no one is expecting a welcome foyer area... but we wanted to create a little area to decorate where we could drop our keys after work and keep things organized.
We got floating shelves and a small half moon shaped table. D put everything together and I organized and decorated. Now that we have the mess piles away - everything is coming together!

Excuse the iPhone pics... but this the whole room shot

Def need to redecorate it but this is great for now!

Installing a Bedroom Chandelier

We have been dying to get rid of this weird boob light in the bedroom since we first saw it. We finally found a chandelier we loved (after ordering and returning a mason jar chandelier). So D went to work installing it, along with another ceiling medallion that makes it look regal (well, as regal as a 1 bedroom can get!).
I absolutely love it. Pics below are from my live instagram updates :)

Creating a Kitchen Area & Installing Cabinets

We have the tiniest kitchen ever with no storage or counter top space. All part of living in NYC. We painted it yellow to cheer it up and painted the cabinets white which made the space look great.

So we decided to take matters into our own hands and created a little extra kitchen area with a little kitchen island we got off craigslist and simple cabinets we ordered off Amazon and D installed himself.
It makes a world of a difference!

Smallest. Kitchen. Ever. (day we moved in)

Finally got a cord in this area to put the microwave up on floor cabinet

Beautiful!
